Plural marriage

When I wanted to make a post of this nature, I wanted a list of all the biblical individuals who had more than one wife. Well, at least all the well known ones.

At the start of my search, I found this! What better list than from the Lord Himself?


1 VERILY, thus saith the Lord unto you my servant Joseph, that inasmuch as you have inquired of my hand to know and understand wherein I, the Lord, justified my servants Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, as also Moses, David and Solomon, my servants, as touching the principle and doctrine of their having many wives and concubines--


THE DOCTRINE AND COVENANTS 132

Using a form of the argument or line of reasoning used in the movie Mountain of the Lord on vicarious proxy, anyone who accepted these men must accept the doctrine of plural marriage.


The LDS Church does not practice this doctrine. See D&C Official Declaration 1

Gary made this comment when I brought this subject up again.

Many things that may have been common 3000 years ago would raise eyebrows today. Examples

Animal sacrifice,
Stoning,
death penalty for adultery,
death penalty for insulting a parent, being a witch, etc.

Sadly, most of us miss the point of plurality of wives, almost all that I have ever met have been seeking approval or authority from something or someone external of themselves to live this principle. The Lord has said that no good gift (from Him) is to be refused. The Lord gave us each our agency, then cast Satan out for attempting to take it from us. Yet we willingly let others, usually self appointed individuals, dictate to us what we can and cannot do regarding this, and if you do sufficient kudo's and pay money, or grovel convincingly they will condescend to "allow" you to do that which God himself has allready given to you. When you get sufficient courage to stand up like ment and do that which the Lord has told you to do then you need not ask permission nor approval from others concerning this. Just do it, but take care to do it according to just and godly principles.

The logic in your comment is used to justify the pedophilic behavior among members of your poligamous community...among other abominations.

There is right and wrong and there is a living prophet who is the conduit through which the Lord reveals his will to his church. You are ignoring the word of the Lord and likely harming young children in the process when you make ignorant arguments such as that above. You do these things at your own eternal peril.

Quite frankly I don't care if you have dozens of wives...it doesn't affect me. When you start taking wives who are teenagers then disgust and compassion for these children compells me to support government efforts to get your evil butt thrown in jail where it belongs.
