Trouble with Theory

In order to refute some items noted in the Universe of Energy post, I must establish where I stand on theory in general. When I speak of theory it means the conceptual understanding or abstract thought.

Theory is an important part in the scientific method, but is not the "end all" answer to be so easily accepted. Theory itself is meaningless.

To be accepted by science, a theory needs to be proved. And such proof would justify the theory if the results were consistent. That is what science is all about; explaining phenomena.

I suppose I run into trouble when I accept gospel related truths as facts – which truths may be arguably viewed as theories by another.
