Mike and Ike

“What a great combination”, I said about a year ago. Kevin, who was the only one in the group that knew it was my birthday, bought me a box of Mike And Ikes.

“Who’s Ike?” Someone finally asked.

“Um, Ike Eisenhower.”

The name didn’t register. “President Eisenhower.”

Still no audible comprehension. “General, Eisenhower who commanded the forces on D-Day... President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower.”

Andrew fiddled through the radio stations and found a pleasant song with bells. He changed the station because the song was pretty raunchy. I figured I should tell him that song now playing wasn’t any better.

“You might want to change the station.” I said.

Kevin got defensive. “No, this is as great song.”

“Yeah, I thought you would recognize it too.”

I told Andrew later the song was AC/DC’s Highway to Hell. “It sounded like a nice song at the start.”

Anyway, I went to my favorite story again and bought too much goodies. Among this was a couple boxes of Mike And Ikes. I’ll bring some to NYC, but I doubt I’ll be able to give Corryn very many. And it is in her best interests.
