I admit I am not a proponent for Marathon vacations. My first visit to the East coast was not a pleasant one at the time. I felt I was marched from one place to another. I told my father, to his dismay, that I didn’t care for the trip at all.
Over the years, I realized how import the race had been. I mean, I met few people that had been to DC, Philly, Atlantic City, Boston, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty and Boston. We saw the US Constitution and the USS Constitution. Not too many can say that.
It bothered me that my Mom would walk slower at the University Mall in Orem, UT than she would out of town. If I am in a new place, I’d like to see as much as I could; especially if I had a short amount of time. I’m a morning person, so I’d be up and out before anyone else. Come night fall, I have no problem with resting.
One thing that really bugs me is when I go to visit someone, a relative or otherwise. The fist thing they hand me is the TV remote and tell to make myself at home. If I wanted to watch TV, I would have stayed at home.
If I want a completely relaxing vacation I would not go to NYC, DC, Orlando, Los Angeles, or somewhere where there is lots to see. I’d go to Seaside, WA or Astoria, OR; an Alaskan Cruise; a remote hideaway; a resort like Snowbird; or middle of nowhere…. where they is little to do.
