I have been humming the hymn Let Zion in her beauty rise for months, but could not remember what the song was.
When miraculous on its own, I found the song by reading through the hymn book. I looked it up online and found it was part of the 1835 hymn book? That version of the melody was way different then the one I was humming.
Frankly the MIDI file I linked to earlier is a bit slower in tempo then the one I can hear in my head. I'm guessing I am just recalling when I heard the Mormon Tabernacle Choir production or something.
Posted by Michael at March 29, 2004 05:01 PMMichael: you will find the tune you seek in an online hymnbook, for example the song O Church of God, United:

Or see http://www.ccel.org/cceh/0005/x000580.htm
The tune is called "ELLACOMBE" by Hofkappelle. A googel of ellacombe produces quite an assortment of hymns that sound like but don't read at all like Let Zion.
The bells version of the first especially calls to mind the Mormon Tabernacle Choir version I carry in my head. I prefer the Mormon Tabernacle Choir version.
Posted by: Donna Prisbrey at April 9, 2004 01:09 AMHey.. if the music sounded different, then it probably was. I had a song stuck in my head too.. i thought it was let zion in her beauty rise, but it turned out to be "Come, Thou Font of Every Blessing" so see if that's it (just a suggestion)
