I remember going to the parade all the time. My Dad yelled a "nice software" comment as the WordPerfect float went by. He was referring to the young women on the float. (WordPerfect used to be based in Orem.)
One year I was on a date with Julie. I forgot about the parade and all until I saw the fireworks. Then there was a "mob'' of people coming towards us after the celebrations were over.
One year, I foolishly marched in the parade. It was for the LDS Institute program. Not sure why I did that. It was not what I would do again... Dustin was also marching.
