The perfect gift for someone who uses the computer too much would be a program that limits the time one can stay on the computer. After 8 hours of work, or 2-3 hours of playing games (time set by the wife?), the computer locks up.
Of course there would have to be an override if there was an emergency, but if abused would come at a cost: random file deletion or some other destructive action.
I guess when the computer is idol, then that time doesn’t count. Just an idea I had the other day. It was time to go and I told people my computer locked up…

For work use, there would need to be a way to add computer usage time if you were in a meeting but not at your desk. Example: You would have to add (or subtract?) an hour for the idle time in the meeting you got dragged in to. So you are not staying at work/on your computer an extra hour!
Posted by: Michael at August 17, 2006 07:42 AMHmmm...I can think of a couple people here in Utah who could use one of those!
I have a question about securing our family site with a password. Do you know how to do that? Is there a way I can password protect themannings.org but not themannings.org/soapbox?
Sorry I didn't just send this in an email but I couldn't find your email address here at work.
