New Pope

Ye-ha! It was kind of cool to "see" the change and learn how a new pope was selected. Earlier I heard about some feminists in Chicago who supposedly wanted a female Pope or something. Some of the things they were complaining about were kind of strange to me, probably because I’m a guy and don’t notice all the “limitations” imposed on women in general.

I guess I am glad I am not a woman. I got my own set of problems. I have no problem with someone with a better skill set – which might not take very much – to take my job. I would be kind of ticked if my job was given to some less qualified because they had some kind of quota to fill.

Call me old fashion; I like women who are not afraid to be feminine. After watching stuff like the people in Chicago, mentioned above, I really don’t feel like being a gentleman or what not. These women can open their own [dang] doors.

Told off

I was just told off with "I'm happy to see you at activities and such but ..." which only proves that some people only think of me, or are only my friends, or are cordial/friendly to me only when I am in their face. I suppose I can not be too upset though. When I think about it, i probably do it to fewer people as well.

Computer Games

Last time I tried to play Ages, the game would not load. I think there was something wrong with the CD. Oh well.

I remember games like Q-bert and Spy Hunter. I spent a lot of time playing games. I'm glad I gave it up. There are just way too many games and so little time to do productive things. I am sure I could do better with my time.

I used to play with productivity software such as Office or the Operating System (OS) itself like it was a game. I remember when I thought I was the coolest when I could change the QBASIC code to Nibbles.

Potomac Spirit

I took a river boat cruise to Mount Vernon.

It started off pretty cold. I tripped and hit my head on a tree! I lost my temper because the stinking bus came later than it6 said it would. I "followed" this young lady around. Well, there were times I thought she was following me.

She looked familiar. When I got up the courage to talk to her, she was with her Mom and other relatives (?), I could not get to her. Finally, I just said [forget] it. The day had been long and tiring. I feel asleep on the metro ride home.

Wish I had a camera, but I did not want to lug it around. Oh well, it was a good excuse to get out. I'm glad I went.

Tyson’s SIGGRAPH

I joined ACM a few months ago. I got an email regarding a computer animation demo reel showing and ignored it until I saw the accronym SIGGRAPH on the Pixar entry in wikipedia. I just hasd to go.

It was an adventure. My plan to get to and from Tyson's Corner was pefectly executed. Now that I’ve been out here long enough, I guess I more willing to take on more adventuers. The people there were all artists and I was like the only one that couldn’t draw a thing. It was cool though.

I got screwed out of another atempt to Monticello, so I have decided to take the train one day. That way, I’m not waiting for someone to pull the rug out from under me, so to speak. I admit it would be fun with lots of people, but I tire easily over coordinating schedules.

Everyone I asked out for tonight turned me down. One, whom I wasn’t expecting to call me back, I knew she would not make it. I had to ask her if she even wanted me to ask her out again, because I felt I was bugging her. She didn’t answer directly, so what do you do about that?

Meek Sloppy Joes

I’d like to post my comments on the prophet’s talk, but I think some people would take it wrong. There is enough anti-truth out there already, I don’t someone to think I’m adding to it.

We actually had a regular game night the day before the message was received. I thought it was just as fun as our structured “gambling” night; maybe funnier. The classic argument was pitched that Sloppy Joes are meek . Is there anything meeker?

Anyway after the Priesthood session, I overheard some older gentlemen. Older than me by 10 or 12 years. One man approached the group and asked. “What is going to happen to—“

“Movie night?” another interjected. “It is now going to be movie night.”

Awesome. I wonder what they had been doing? I further wondered how many, maybe not of this group, would go to their Bishop, get rid of all face cards or what not as a reaction.

War of the Worlds

Despite my dislike for Tom Cruise and a rather diminished liking for Spielberg, I am looking forward to seeing War of the Worlds. John Williams is doing or has done the music for it.

The are a couple other trailers I saw that were quite interesting. I can’t think of any right now… I should have written them down.

Sahara and Indian food

I watched this show. it was entertaining. I then went out to eat with a friend. I consciously tried hard to be an enjoyable person to be around because I feared I would not be invited again if I didn’t try. It was fun, and the food was good.

Unintentionally, I positioned myself next to the only woman in the group. I felt like the guy who wanted her attention wished he had not sat down so quickly. She was nice, attractive young lady. Well, everyone in these singles wards seem to be younger than myself.

Hopefully, Josh will recruit her on one of our planned excursions this summer. I guess it was Ok that I did not go to Monticello.

King Pipin

I’ve been to two high school gyms in the last week. The second one was for the worst play I have ever seen. I thought if Pippin were shot, early in the play, be someone in the audience, it would have been over and with gratefulness.

I honestly was not expecting to be sitting on my butt the first weekend of my ambitious travel plans for the “summer”. I figured I might need a contingency plan, but was mislead into thinking I did not.

The stinking Internet was fixed. I suspect what had caused it, but it is all good now. I’m back posting worthless entries.

Network Issues

Having issues... think it is the switch....

Sent my second born Nephew just a birthday card. Funny, the first kid seemed awesome, and now the second seems commonplace. Same with my neice.

Unfortunate Spoiler

Note: I can not be held responsible for ruining the series if you continue to read.

I read the last page of the 11th book in the series. I was kind of shocked. I did a quick search online and came across a link to my favorite online encyclopedia. It had tons of info on the series and Mr. Snicket.

I spent some time looking up other subjects I had been researching lately. Namely, Pixar, Cadbury, Willy Wonka, Pepsi, etc. Wow, I should check here first when I want to look up something in the future.

Knock on Wood

I get ridiculed for the movies I choose? At least I can follow the story in "mine". I guess I'm just dumb or something but I watched Blind Horizon and asked myself what I watched... I have no idea. Definite waste of time.

I came home to a mess. Seems like it gets worse every week. I knew I spoke way too soon, almost a year ago, when I said the kitchen has never been cleaner. I often wonder if this is how the Nazi felt...

I need to go running today! I have no exvuses.

Crosses, what purpose do they serve?

cross.gifI never really understood the notion of the cross. Yeah, I know it represents Christianity, but it seems pretty silly. Well, I guess it is not as silly as the Jesus fish and if the legend of it’s origin is true, I guess it makes sense to “hide” it’s meaning. I’d cross myself too if it would indicate to someone else I was a Christian and they did not understand English.

Anyway, the crosses like this image just seems morbid. I wouldn’t want it in my house nor would I want to look at it every Sunday. I think it is pretty depressing, but I guess that is the point… to get people to feel bad and pay the lousy preacher to blow sunshine up…

Is it not more impressive and inspiring that He lives? Was not the Garden of Gethsemane more excruciating? Death on the cross was the completion of what began in the garden.

I wish my opinions were more tactful like President Hinckley’s. There is a reason he has been called to be a prophet and I most likely will not. Did not Moses say “would God everyone would be a prophet”?
