The rest of the day

mtnmedow.jpgToday I was in a totally great mood up until I perused across a certain article. It wasn't the Mountain Meadow Massacre of which I know little about and seems to be such a gossipy story. What little I read reminded me about the bull crap about how one, or a handful of anal Muslims can blacken the eye for the rest of the community.

Well, I guess I mean it is lame if you judge the whole Islamic community because some guys can't quite pull there heads out each others butts and do all kinds of stuff, in the name of the religion (as a matter of convenience, mind you) that all Muslims are violent.

Anyway, almost everything from that point of skipping over this unnamed article, did not go according as planned. It did not overshadow the great experiences of the morning. Nor was the rest of the day by any means crappy. I just wish I never saw the article. I wonder how different the day could have gone. Or am I just being weird to think of such things?

Fathomable Amazonia

stingray.jpgYesterday, I went back to the zoo to see other stuff I had not previously seen. I was very interesting to go into the Amazonia exhibit.

I wish my nieces were here, I think they would have enjoyed the Kid's farm and all. It was right next to this exhibit, but I had to mention that.

I'm glad I never went to the Amazon, but I was amazed with the different life they have. I mean, I hear they are still finding new spider species and what not. good thing for the walkway in the habitat area. All the plants around made me feel like I'd get totally lost in the real thing.

Happy Birthday

9th_birthday.gif

It is hard to believe it has been 9 years. So much has happened in the since I first heard of Google. What will I be doing 9 years from know?

I should start my own business. I could do a government solutions company like everyone else... or I should try and get some telecommuting job so I can move around yet still work for the same employer.

It is kind of weird to think about what Google employee's might have done today. What would I have done? I'm sure there was a big party...

Silly non technical people

USB portI did not know what to post this morning until I got an email regarding a lost USB port. Like they just fall right out of the computer all the time? I think she meant USB thumb drive.

Someone at work told me that the source code to the program I was working on, had to run from Visual Source Safe. Had I not been feed up with him, I would have politely corrected him, but I think i bit my tongue instead.

Source Safe is like a safe. You put things in; you take things out. If you find a way to run source code from it, I'd like to know.

A year ago or so, I was conducting interviews for a web developer. I think i blogged this once. Anyway, the lady said she was great with PHP on the client side. That was amazing, seeing how PHP is a server side scripting technology.

One of my favorite tech commercials was a CDW one where the viewer is in the head of the network admin... all these people come to you with their problems. One guy thinks he fried the Mother board and the Father board.

I could go on with all the tech support jokes i have heard... but I'm sure there is a web site out there already.

Christmas 2013

Christmas treeWell, it looks like Christmas 2013 is already planned for. Well, as far as gift rotations are concerned.

I just added a spreadsheet to my Google documents page that shows who gives to whom for the next couple of years. I suppose assignments will change if family members are added or dropped from the list...

My condo should be paid off by then. Than I could use that rent money to pay mine out here. Or in Chicago or where ever I end up.

Tower fan

fan.jpgBusted my fan I got about the time I moved out here. It looks kind of like image I took from Google.

Next year, I'll need to get a portable AC unless I move like I would like, but I'm all talk sometimes.

It was a good fan, I just knocked it over one too many times. It still blows but very noisily.... Ah, that blows.

Colonial German Group

pandas in the snowIt was more like me and some Texan believe it or not. We didn't even see the whole zoo. This time around (I have been to the zoo on my own twice before.), I actually saw some animals. Well, aside from my favorite female mammal species.

Anyway, I witnessed one of the strangest, but coolest events ever. After my "German" friend left me, I positioned myself near a crowd of beautiful young ladies. They were sitting on benches in the shade. Great idea for it was rather warm.

I noticed a few started to talk via hand signals. Are they talking about me, I wondered. Minutes passed then without a sound, all 15 or 20 of them in unison got up and walked a couple yards away. Then all of them in a flurry started to sign stuff to each other.

Are they all deaf? Can't imagine what that would be like. How do they all know each other?

Mormon night at the Nationals

Washington Nationals capI went to this BYU alumni pizza party/baseball game only for the pizza really, although I was ID'd by a t least 4 people.

Right off the metro, I had the urge to use the little boy's facilities but I did not have a ticket yet... I finally found the group, got my ticket, and ate some pizza. I assumed most of the people did not know me and I them.

It was kind of strange though. Being among them felt more enjoyable than among random people on the metro ride home.

I was wondering at what point in the game, I would take off. When they searched my bag, I remembered that to waste some time before getting to the stadium, I went to CVS. They probably would not let me take the Drain-o stuff in, I thought just before he told me so.

Well, good thing there was a port-a-piss thing in the parking lot. I grabbed my bag and fought the mob back to the metro. Some guy saw me holding a ticket and asked if I was selling. He looked disappointed with the $4 setting assignment and was about to walk away but I told him he could keep it.

Don't mess with Texas

texas.jpgI know I should stop messing with Texas. When the last attractive, strong willed women I met told me where she was from, I still pursued even though I knew the end result.

Most Texan women I have met are just too darn irresistible. Even or especially when they say they aren't interested or what have you, I want one even more.

If I was a pretty boy, I'd have all the Texan love I could ask for. Next Texan I meet, I'll just spread my legs and ask her to swift kick me and get it over with.

Picture of the day

starspan.gif
Someone sent me this for some reason so I put it up this morning.

I'm going to try and post an image every day if I can. That way I have something to do on this site that might be more interesting to read.

Well, I hope you like it. Sorry i had to disable comments.

Medals

bronze starI once said my dad didn't needed to show off like Kerry. Last time I was in Utah, I noticed my Dad had patches on his coveted Disney hat of the bronze star and the purple heart. I don't think my Dad is showing off.

It was just interesting to me. I know my Dad would display the medals on the wall at home. Or at least he used to have them up in the hall way. He also brought them when he was giving a talk to illustrate his story.

I'm still convinced Kerry was showing off because Bush was a deserter or so I heard. How would Kerry have handled this "War" or Terror? How will the next guy?

Picture from Saturday

Renaissance festival 013 (WinCE).jpg
Got the pictures from Saturday. None of me shall I ever post. Wish I took pictures of all the beautiful damsels running around that day. I'm sure some live for this day....

Anyway, like I said, the jousting was the best.

CIRQUE DREAMS Jungle Fantasy

Went to some crazy but fun show at the Warner Theatre. I went up early to check out the area before joining up with the group. I ate at Ollie trolley. I should have invited this lady I met at the bookstore whom i ran into.

Yesterday, I went to the Renisaunce festival. That was fun. I like the jousting the best I think.

Today will be quite busy. Making visits and appearances... Should be fun.

Shorter Days

Already I started to go to bed earlier because I thought it was getting late. Then I looked at the clock. I still had a couple hours... what am I going to do?

Last night, I walked to the store to get some q-tips, stopped by the library (I never went inside this bramch before) and came home with ice cream and frozen drink mixes.

I spilled the OJ while making it and still had time to mop it all up. Tonight I have some place to go. Not a date though. Nor tomorrow, but at least I got invited.

Cool feature

.Google's blogger email posting service is cool but it can be a huge security risk, I was going to try from work, but it would have been obvious that I was blogging which a definite no no.

It'd didn't take HTML tags either. Oh well, it is all good.

See demo posts here.

What is TMZ?

I'm so bummed. They swapped out one of the two evening episodes of the Simpson's for this TMZ crap. I don't make them stars do I? I don't think they are real anyway.

TMZ stands for organized paparazzi? They didn't learn anything from the movie? Maybe it encouraged them.

It's getting darker earlier now. Where is my Simpsons?

Repeater.Net control

A guy at work was all touting the Repeater control is what I needed to use. I was somewhat embarrassed because I did not know what it was.

Looks like it is the predecessor of the DataList control. I like the template editor like in the GridView control, I was pleased to learn that the DataList had the same editor capability.

Why use Repeaters except for backward compatibility? I guess there is a reason, i just don't see myself using it.

Spoke too soon?

I recently told someone I got kicked out just when lots of cool people were moving in. Then this happens. Maybe it's time to let go?

Ah, maybe not. Just because one person treats me like crap... and I suspect others let me do what I want because they feel I'm mentally challenged. And these are your friends?

I never said they were. It's just something fun to do.

Eggs and potatoes

I did some impulsive shopping at Costco. I was only to get some pictures for a passport. It was good to go. Only time I left the4 house before noon.

The MSDN magazine came. I like to read from it although it often goes over my head at the time. I'm sure I mention that all the time.

Got my clothes washed and my room cleaned up a bit. It was a hot d day and spent it in the shade talking to a old friend. He is like the General. A friend of all, but I was pleased the attention the General gave me last weekend.

A thousand eyes

I went to the Center Ward while I was in Utah. I was surprised at how small the young single adult ward was. I jusat recalled the number in both Colonial Wards year after year.

I was crazy at the airport. All these strange eyes staring at me.

I had trouble with my own eyes. Getting older. Not good. Not pleasant.

Trapped forever

I had a "little" computer question.

Purposely, I asked this English speaker for help but a short while after we got started, this one guy comes over. I don't understand he is talking about most of the time: After a while, I told him to get away from my computer.

I solved one issue. Only to find out that there are many more. Sometimes, "simple" drives me crazy.

Bourne weekend

I did not get to drive the golf cart like I wanted, but I suppose it was better that I did not. I had a fun time with my nieces and nephews. I stayed at my sister's the first night and went on as walk and had a water fight with my nieces the next day.

Then my mom brought over the nephews, whom she was babysitting instead of going golfing. We had lunch at the mall and then went with the boys to a park where we played keep away with my fake grenade.

I hung out with some friends and the family the rest of the time. It was good to get away.

Watched all of the Bourne movies.
