Clotheslined

Not sure I ever posted this.

Several years ago at the Disneyland parking lot there was a race. It was so long ago that California Adventure now sits on top of this lot.

My Dad and my older brother were always finding ways to compete with each other. On the count of three, they were off racing to the end. Well, my Dad jump started the race on the count of 2.

My brother soon caught up. It looked like Dad was slowing down. Was he tired? Either way it encouraged David to go faster and he pulled ahead in triumph. A few yards further, he caught on this wire that was stretched across the lot, and went to the ground.

Dad started to laugh. I guess he saw the wire and slowed. It was rather funny, but I thought it was odd that there was something long enough to stretch across the lot and for what?

What was I going to post?

I thought of something pretty funny to post but now I'm drawing a blank. Was it my brother, his coat and the goat incident? Was it the 1984 Holiday Bowl incident where my Dad was a seagull target?

I forget. Anyway, I almost hurt my ankle twice while running yesterday. The second time, I actually went to the ground. So, I got up and walked the rest of the way. It must have looked funny to the observer.

A coworker was making my laugh pretty hard. He reminded me of a coworker from my days at TransEra in Orem. It's been so long, I wonder where I'll be 10 years from now. Who will make me laugh then?

Nasca biomorphs

The latest Indy movie referred to these ancient Peru images to be seen from the sky. I thought they made it up. It was a pain to look it up because I didn't know how to spell it or what it was called.

Like the floating islands of Titicaca mentioned in a General Conference talk, I was very fascinated by these images and had to look them up to learn more.

Amazing what you learn from the details.

Glad I left the beach early

I wondered this during the lonely down times I had yesterday. I even watched Indiana Jones again with an old friend. Was it worth watching again just to get out of the house? Spending some time with Dave was good.

I got a rather random, indirect invite to a BBQ in Crystal City. I waited for others to show up at the place before going in. It reminded me of a place I had gone to years ago with the Nazi. He did get all the invites.

It was good to see and talk to someone I had asked out recently. I even got a hug on the way out. But anyway, my whole purpose of being there was to talk to people. It was great.

I started to talk to this one young lady from Connecticut. When I learned her last name I was incomplete shock. I did not want to play the do you know game because everyone I know is way older than her and the odds of her knowing?

Well not only did she know my friend Ed from Connecticut, she was his little sister! Small world indeed. She also had other brothers at the BBQ whom I met. Now, I just need to meet the parents and I've met the whole family.

Adventure Bar

I got an Indiana Jones Snickers bar. It was like a regular one only with coconut flavoring. It was good.

I also tried the Indy M&M's. I'm a sucker for merchandise I guess.

I did see the movie. My expectations were low (How could they improve on the Last Crusade?) and I was indirectly warned about the aliens so I would say it was very entertaining indeed.

Enjoy it while it lasts

I just got home from Outer Banks. I came home early because my friend, whom I rode down with, was going home today. Probably to spend tomorrow with his girlfriend. I could have found an alternate ride, but I wanted to enjoy the ride.

I was not exactly impressed with the house. A few things were not what I expected. The planning was good, but not exactly to my liking. I can't complain about that because I did not want to plan it.

It was great. I really liked going early Thursday to Williamsburg. I wonder if anything can be better. I was in contact with people I know and like. I even went to visit them. Ass always, they where good to me.

It did not take long for me to get upset with the pigs and the sty I found. When one of the pigs cried it was the Sabbath and so could not buy garbage bags really set me off. I asked if his Mom let him live like this, then I recalled how she babies him... from the other side of the country!

Doodle 4 Google

Awesome. What a job. I posted before that I love the Google images.

Here is the guy. Well, I'm guessing it is just him.

I wish I was this talented.

Finally unloaded the stuff I've been packing

I feel like I have tons to do. I do all this stuff only to find out I have more to do. I almost wish I could clone myself. OK, no I don't. My clone would probably do something drastic.

The other day I saw the President's motor cage. I thought it was weird at first when some cop came out of nowhere to stop all traffic, then some biker cop stopped in front of the crosswalk.

I could picture in my mind a giant image of President Bush's head surrounded by several large dollar signs. They were cruising down the street. I wonder how much it costs for the cars, the people's salary and don't forget the gas.

Titles

I've been kicking around a bunch of titles for a post. I think the titles are the most interesting part of the whole thing. Too bad the content isn't great.

Changing of the guard This has reference to a pretty boy leaving and being replaced by a funny solider coming home from Iraq. I wish I was like Tony in that I was a hugger. I didn't know exactly what she wanted when she came over to thank me for the muffins. She had ample time to do this already. I even got an email from her on an unrelated subject that afternoon.

Extra baggage This has reference to the never ending logistics nightmare for the weekend. I have secured my ride and I care very little how everyone else is getting there. Once there, I plan to enjoy myself. Not sure I'll go back. At least, I will not get my own house to fill.

Damn fool I mentioned to some Texan yesterday that I'm not sure it's worth trying to pursue anyone any more. It always leads to mass confusion and heart ache. Not too mention all the really stupid stuff I do that when "analyzed" later, I wonder what I was thinking.

Hoover Dam

I believe I went here once. I watched part of Transformers last night. I admit I only like the military scenes. Especially the scenes at the dam. I blogged about this before. I got too much junk on here; I couldn't find the post.

Went to two wards yesterday. I have no intention of going to church down in OBX next Sunday. It was a bonus that the C2 ward had a linger longer; talked to a bunch of nice people.

After spending a some time in the kitchen, I had a roommate help me deliver some muffins. I forgot they had all the food still from the party the night before. Oh well.

World tour

I toured the world yesterday. It was fun. Walked from Australia to Iraq. Stopped in at Peru, Argentina, Venezuela, Micronesia, Madagascar, Trinidad, South Korea, and Paraguay.

I thought it was lame I had to have a reservation for Japan. So I walked away. They didn't have a gate so I wondered where the embassy started. I also wondered other legal issues and stuff like utilities and garbage collection.

I walked past India because the line was super long, but on the way back I noticed there was no line and went inside and got some food. I ate it on the steps to the front door. Across the street were protesters and at least one hunger strike person.

I thought it rather funny that giving away food to people who are not starving was a statement to the protesters who were saying the Government of India were ignoring their own starving people.

One such protester was awfully close to the embassy and I wondered if that was legal or even wise. Either way, I walked by and wished them good luck.

I admit it was rather interesting to go to Iraq. Seemed like really nice people. It was weird that their embassy was right by a huge, ugly christian cathedral. It was also weird to think we were at war with people in that country. I also admit there were some very beautiful women there.

I missed a bunch of other countries, but I guess there is always next year.

Nugget

I recall a few stories from my parents. There was one about how (in Guam I believe) my Mom put her sister on a raft and pushed the raft out to sea. I heard it had gone quite a ways because some guys had to swim out to retrieve it. My mom was on shore waving good bye.

My Dad tells a story about how he threw a hatchet at his brother. I can't recall the details so it makes him sound pretty cut throat.

I forget the funny story about my Mom and animals, but my Dad tells a story about how he wanted to see if baby chicks could swim. I think I would have stopped after the first one sunk to the bottom of the little stream there on the farm.

Messed up again?

What else is new? I thought it would be funny, that's what I get for thinking.

Maybe if I had a cause, I'd have something to write about, but I don't and no one cares.

Another miracle occurred today. Well, the server wasn't updated. I'm glad to know it wasn't my code that was wrong. I'm usually never wrong. Except when it comes to things that matter?

Going to OBX: The house from ...

The closer I get to this event, the more I wonder how it will go. Everything I did, irrated someone. But why?

Some people are just messed up. NC is up there right next to NJ of my least favorite states. TX drives me crazy, but there are still people from there I can't stop loving. :)

Anyway, I just want to get down there and enjoy myself. I know I'm going to have to walk away from anyone who says something that deserves a good punch. If I don't walk, I know I'll sock 'em. Regardless of race, mentailty, age, sex, etc.

Blogger Shower

Tried to post stuff via email to my blogger shower. The formatting was all messed and the gum image never made it. I'm not too shocked about the image though.

Technology can be really neat. I guess I had my expectations too high. Oh well, who reads this stuff anyway?

Last Investment club meeting?

I joined this group because I wanted to learn more about Finances. I never thought it was a real investment club where they pool money and buy stuff, because the group leader said what it was in an email. I didn't even know these other clubs existed.

Anyway, I have learned much. Not just about finances (home buying), investing (ETFs), but about other topics. Like last night, I heard about a secure GMail. I can't wait to test it out at work. I won't have to go to the Library anymore if it works.

It wasn't the last meeting. The group leader is just stepping down.

Private Charlee Chat

I had dinner with Charlee. It was good. I had my hands in my pocket when we met up -- which doesn't work too well if you want a hug. :)

Oh well, had a great conversation. I admit it was kind of hard to concentrate because I think she is a very pretty woman. I almost lost it when she was fixing her hair a bit. I really like long hair! (It wasn't super long, but it wasn't short either; just perfect.)

Hopefully she'll let me take her out again, and again. If not, hopefully we can stay friends.

Time flys sometimes

Wow, I got family in town. It was a rather fun weekend. Went to the Navy Yard for the first time. Had a Mother's Day dinner. Gave them the tour at work on Monday.

Watched Iron Man, went to Institute -- which was great as always.

It's been over 75 degrees at the office lately. The rest of the building is nice and cool. Hard to stay awake and to focus on this seemingly impossible problem.

Great day, education, and friends

I had a dinner with one of greatest people around. I admit I was pretty nervous -- which isn't usual for me. I told her about the blog and now I feel like I should probably delete it.

Oh well. My lousy phone lost power again and thought I was going to get stranded at Costco, but another great friend found me and got me home.

Shook my head when talking to a relative about money. I thought it was sad I get "laughed at" how little I know about investing and such things when they fear anything out of the old school "put your money in a mattress" train of thought.

Well, I'm kind of watching Deck the Halls while catching up on email. It's pretty funny.

Room 1408, not the year

I don't know why I hoped/thought the movie would take place in the year 1408. I didn't see the trailer or read the description. Had I done so, I would not have wasted the time to watch it. I think these type of movies are just lame.

But instead of calling some people like I probably should have, I watched intently. I wasn't scared. In fact, I thought it was a bit humorous.

Now I get to go back to work. I'm so excited. I'd rather watch another King movie. No really, it is easier on the wrists.

Paradigms

I called a friend the other day and talked to his wife briefly before he came to the phone. I was kind of jealous to hear that their big issue is the need to add on to the house because of their growing family.

I felt it was odd that they both expressed the desire to come back to the DC area because there is so much to see and do.

I called the General back last night and we talked somewhat of people we knew growing up. Where are they now?

It was rather funny to see myself start to feel like I know these people on the different podcasts that I listen to. I doubt I'd ever meet any of them. Although, it would be kind of neat.

Suffering Succotash

I bought a can of Succotash. I thought it was something the cartoon made up. It was just corn with some bean in it.

I was quite disappoint with the UK embassy. It was nice and all, but as we walked out, there was a little sweat shop of sorts. I got excited hoping some Cadbury or other non US candy was on sale. I only saw regular stuff you can get at a grocery store.

Oh well, I think there was a miscommunication on what this open house was all about. Hopefully they will do it again next year. I'm going, or I want to go to the one on the 17th. This one is not the EU, but the world.

I want to go to the Australia one. Maybe Iraq. Egypt would be cool, not sure they will be open. I'll have to check before I head out.

Black Horse

I recently watched Black Beauty and Black Stallion. I could not remember what story was what.

OK, Maybe I mixed the two movies up or there is another horse movie out there. I can picture a horse like Beauty that races like Stallion. In my mind, I recall them painting Beauty's white mark above the horse's eyes. but that never happened in either movie.

Well, at the end of Beauty, the horse's hair covered the white spot...

Toured Europe

OK, not really but I went to a bunch of EU embassies yesterday. I didn't know they did this and nobody could answer my question on who was paying for this or why where they doing it?

Either way it was really neat. Would have talked to some people at these embassies but some of them looked like security and nobody else was talking to them.

I had to ask if it was OK to use the restroom in Ireland. I didn't know if I was welcome.
