Went shooting last night

After a huge, rather extravagant Costco run, I went with an old friend to the range. It was fun.

I prefer hand guns anymore. Got to shoot another WWII German sub machine gun. Some guy had one. I wanted to shoot the M-16, but oh well.

It's been a good week. At work and at play. Well, Tuesday could have been better I suppose. I knew I'd regret going to institute. But I figure I almost always do for some reason or another. I'm glad i went though for other reasons of course.

Great way to end the day

I lost money on that bet!

I thought it was funny that I yelled this as I ran back to the Archives metro stop. There was a serious miscomuunication on the meeting place. I figured the Navy band/Sea Chanters concert would be canceled due to the occasional rain, but I wanted to go to the Capitol steps and wait to see if she would show.

I was never given her number. I supose I never took it. (I got her email off the ward web site.) But, I was expecting her to call or have sent an email saying she couldn't make it. Well, about 10 minutes after the concert was supposed to start, the rain threatened to come down again. I got no calls so I walked to the Capitol South metro stop to go home.

On the way, I checked again. To my surprise, I had missed a call. Weird! I called and told her I would run back to Archives.

We got milk shakes at Fudruckers in Chinatown and metrored home. Great conversation.

I thought it was rather funny that I got a chocalate and she got vanilla. It was repersentative on how oppisite we were on many topics.

I just smiled when she said she wanted to go to Africa. She told me that the first time I met her last Tuesday. Had to ask her if she talked to the wheel chair lady.

Long story on the name, wheel chair lady, bu it is an inside joke.

Oh, I forgot to tell about the amazing sceene of a rainbow spanning over the capitol building. That was neet, wish I got a photo of it. Possible somebody did... do a Google search.

It's almost July!

I made it through 1/3 of the summer? Glad I bought that AC. Getting hot again.

This Saturday is one of those days there is so much to be done. I wish i had a clone so I can split up the activities.

I wish I had a clone in general. I'd send him to work... maybe two or three clones. Imagine three pay checks!

I love Welchs

This morning I thought about an Easter dinner, not so long ago, that I was invited to but where I felt I was not so welcome by one person. The second I walked in the door, they were already seated and waiting on us. I brought the drink and it went around the table. The one person whom I sensed didn't want me there said after tasting the drink that "The apple juice tastes bad."

"That's because, " I explained. "It is not apple juice."

I guess they did not read the label. Others also tasted the drink. "What is it then?" Someone else inquired.

"It is White grape juice."

The crowd approved with a sigh.

"With Peach." I concluded somewhat triumphantly.

The sigh became an interested grunt. (Like Tim Taylor). They took another sip.

Power out again

It rained a bit and lost power at the house. This happens too much anymore it seems. Ok, twice now in the same month.

The USNO tour was canceled with no notice. Oh well, I guess I'll try a fourth time. The first two times I had to cancel. I guess they are just getting me back.

I guess I better go to work now. Had to go to the library to check my email...

Great plans

Well, I had a good weekend. The fair was small, but fun to get out. Especially to the Lake and the small town of Mineral.

I have some good plans for the week already. I half-heartily asked some girl out because I know someone else has started to chase her and this was pretty much her third strike with me.

I love collecting information. If it came to me directly, it would be even better. Well, last night I got an invite to watch the game. When I showed up, a friend asked why I was there. I told him he was right, I'm not a Sports fan, I just like to be invited.

Random Updates

It was a great day. Went to breakfast with a very attractive friend. Got to watch people while waiting for her to show up. Excellent weather, compared to the previous day(s). Got an awkward car hug afterwards, but it is better than nothing.

Went to the library to work on personal stuff: facebook, my calling, etc. It was good to get away from the mind numbing issue. Turns out the application was set up wrong and was fixed in like 1o minutes when shown to another developer/admin.

Went to lunch with two friends. Got a sombrero. Great food, good conversation. And again, I did not have to pay.

After work, I got to watch more people while waiting for yet another friend. We ate dinner at a interesting Italian joint. I felt like I was being talked down to until I started to pull all this legal jargon out so as to impress my friend. We went to see Kung fu Panda. It was hilarious the second time around as well as the first.

I was asked how I got started in my fascination with computer animated movies. I guess with tools like the Internet, I was able to look up more info. I noted that I had not really updated my arsenal on Pixar. I looked up some more info on other studios too. Shrek 5? Give me a break. Another Horton show? Cool.

The other day, I got rather disturbed when I saw gas prices at $4 a gallon. Indirectly, I was told, I am paying for the rise of gas prices. I still felt bad because I bug people for rides and I know they are probably burning lots of money on fuel.

Yesterday, I almost kissed an Elvis impersonator. Got a lot of laughs. I wasn't going to do it, but he extended a hand to me like he had with all those women.

I started and frankly stopped listening to the Reaper Man. It was entertaining but too weird to follow. I might give it another chance. Maybe I should start with book 1.

Going to a dance party tonight. I just want to be with someone at this party. not sure if I'm going to embarrass myself because I can't dance.

Going to a Renaissance Festival tomorrow. A friend is taking me. He's a good guy. Had many adventures with him.

Should go to Fort Totten Sunday. I want to check it out. Would be nice to have a picnic with someone. If it gets too hot, I won't go. I got a new portable AC to cool down with.

Had a good run?

Whew, I thought I list use of my iPod. I tried to plug it in the other week and it wasn't recognized. I tried a bunch of things when I remembered to do so. Nothing seemed to work.

I then got the idea to switch USB ports. I remembered to test it last night. Sweet! Now I can listen to stuff on the go again.

It's so bloody hot lately. I'm wonder if it will break because of moisture. It's going to be a long, humid summer if it is already in the 90's.

Rather Crazy Week

It rained hard the other day. There were even tornado watches and what not. We of course lost power at the house, but we weren't the only ones. It was actually fine... I was only at home during bed time hours anyway.

This weekend is supposed to get Super Hot. I guess so all the rain can get soaked up and ready for another dumping.

Went to a dinner party last night. It was a last minute thing but it was good.

Impulse post: impulse burning in effigy

After I lit a candle in my room last night - it was a scented one and only for that. Well, I guess a night light too. :)

Anyway, after it was lit, I took this tiny paper emblem I picked up from a party so many months ago and put it in the flame.

Gives new meaning to old flame? Not really, it seemed it was just another serious case of infatuation.

Titanic Memorial

Honestly, I had to fight to keep from laughing when I saw this memorial. The moment I saw it, James Horner's soundtrack blared in my head and I could picture DiCaprio standing behind the statue.

So was this the inspiration for the scene in the movie? It's like a trademark. If you put your arms out, people will instantly think Titanic. Well, I do.

Do I believe in aliens?

Short answer: No.

Are we talking about illegal aliens? I know there are too many of those. Are there weird creatures like in Star Trek or Star Wars out there? I would have to say I doubt it.

Are there life forms out there not found on this planet? I would not be surprised, but I doubt they are building cities, transportation and communication devices. Dinosaurs used to roam on this planet, I would not be surprised if there are other planets out there with life on them.

I guess I would have to say that I also would not be surprised to find other humans on other planets. Will we ever meet? I doubt that too.

Wheels 3?

I got very upset yesterday for reason that seem silly this morning. I hovered over the delete blog button for several minutes as I thought about tossing this and the detailed account in my handwritten journal. Then I thought, what the hell. Would my life be any differently?

Going to the Newseum today. Just to get out of the heat. I heard was interesting so I figured why not.

It's June. What great adventures lay ahead of me. I'm going to the USNO with Josh. I need to be more like him, some things would probably go smoother but I doubt the outcome would much different.
