If this is true than my kid is in for a long life.
She has her finger up her nose more than she has it out.

I was sick last week so I wasn’t able to keep up with my favorite blogs. I read Orson’s Telescope right after I got back from lunch and found a post that perfectly describes my feelings on the big Pledge of Allegiance “under God” controversy.
Dan has some excellent comments on this subject too.
Lisa, Corryn and I had lunch at my favorite Arlington Deli today. As we were getting out of the car a guy protesting for homosexuality (he didn’t really have any discernable message other than homosexuality isn’t bad) marched by dressed in a black flowing robe and devil horns. He was yelling things like: “HOMOSEXUALITY IS DIVINELY INSPIRED!!!! PROMISCUITY IS OF THE DEVIL!!!”
He was actually pretty funny. He was on his knees preaching to a couple at one of the outdoor tables when we were waiting to pay for our sandwiches. By the time we made it back outside he had gone…I guess to go find other congregations. Here’s a very bad picture of the guy marching in front of the store.

I like living in a place where stuff like this happens.
Thursday, December 7, 2062 is my big day. When’s yours?

One of my recent commentors (see this post) sent me an email with a link to an opinion piece by Ret. Col. David H. Hackworth* about the armored vest fiasco that has probably resulted in dead American soldiers.
It is no secret that I am a fan of this administration’s foreign policy…including Iraq. I think it is important that the United States do something besides eliminating one country that was harboring Al Queda (Afganistan). We need to work on eliminating all regimes that harbor and actively support Islamo-facist thugs. Creating a working Democracy in Iraq…even a very weak and ineffectual one…is a major public step in weakening the dictatorial regimes in the middle-east that are breeding grounds for these animals. More should be said on this about what else needs to happen but this is an argument for another day.

Well…it is a little scary but I think it has to be.
I will be self employed in two weeks. I resigned my position as a contractor at the Foriegn Service Institute today. I’m going to work for Advantage Home Appraisal.
I’ve been an Appraiser Trainee since November and have been planning on doing this since long before then. We just had to wait until there was enough business to justify it. There is now enough business that this is no longer something I want to do but clearly this is what I have to do. Lisa can’t do all of the work we are getting by herself and she is ready to start being a mom again.
I plan on using this opportunity to go back to working on my education and improving my resume while doing as many appraisals as possible. Hopefully business keeps up after interest rates begin to rise from the all time lows they are at now. I think we will do alright…we’ve picked up many new clients over the past few weeks.
Wish us luck…and if you know anyone in Virginia who needs a home appraisal please let them know about us!!!
Round trip airline tickets from SLC to DC are $171.
There is no reason not to come visit us. Free room and cheap airline tickets!!! Tiy can’t beat that!!!
I’m saving up a for a new monitor. I like this one:

I have found the world of Mormon blogs and I like it.
Here is a fantastic discussion (read the comments) on profanity and the typical Mormon reaction to it.
My parents always cussed when I was growing up but I was alway very cautious about it. In fact I don’t think I ever really had a problem with cursing until I first started to play tennis.
I’m fat and soft now and I don’t swear. Where’s my racquet?
Check this out.

The Smart Truck III
You know how teenagers always talk about the cool cars they want when they grow up? I already have the cool car I’ve always wanted…but if I ever have the means I want to pick up one of these up too.
I’ve always said that I don’t think I’ll ever own an American Made Vehicle…but…
SmarTruck III, like its two predecessors, is loaded with sophisticated technology including a weapons station module - featuring a remote controlled 50-calibre machine gun - a surveillance module with a 360-degree camera, a pan and tilt night vision camera with laser range finder, a hydraulic assist system to help the vehicle during acceleration, a regenerative braking system, which stores energy and makes the vehicle more fuel efficient and a terrain adjustable suspension and chassis system. The vehicle has sufficient gross vehicle weight (GVW) to accommodate armor and additional weapons or control modules while still providing excellent performance and fuel efficiency.
Cool.
“Television’s great contribution is that it brought murder into the home where it belongs.” –Alfred Hitchcock
Lisa and I like to watch the CSI shows on CBS. The original CSI is quite a bit better than CSI Miami but we usually record both on the Replay TV each week so we can watch when we have some free time.

I guess I shouldn’t link to this since we don’t want too many people going there to download stuff but my site isn’t widely read so I figured it would be safe.
Caution…the files on this site are huge. You will need a broadband connection to make use of them.

I’m very conservative about who I link to on this webpage…especially the permanant links on the right hand side. I’m going to add this site to my permanant links. I’ve read it and I like it. I don’t know who “Jeremy” is but he is a great writer and he has really good sense of what is worth posting. I admire that. I could probably learn from that!
Here’s one of my favorite posts.
I’ve been meaning to post these for a while. I sure love the camera-phone. I can’t wait till technology is available for a model that takes quality pictures that can be emailed quickly.
In the meantime here are some low-res pictures that I’ve taken recently that I really like…
