Asshattery On The Left And Bad Parenting On The Right

Here is a story that is being posted on several blogs. Apparently a man and his 3 year old daughter were assaulted by Kerry/Edwards supporters during a brief appearance of John Edwards at a small airport. The little girl on the dad’s shoulders is crying because the mean people tore up her sign. People who would do that are thugs and absolute scumbags.
They aren’t the only ones deserving a derogatory title in this story though. Anyone who would drag his 3 year old little girl to a pro-Kerry/Edwards event and then try to use her as a shield so he could antagonize those who are there to see their candidate is an idiot and a terrible parent. That guy should have known better. He deliberately created a very stressful situation for his little girl. Why? Because he wanted to say he did his part as a good Republican by trying to heckle Democrats during one of their campaign events. Nice job jerk.

UPDATE: Someone in the comments to this post said that my criticism of this guy is similar to those who would blame a rape victom for the crime perpetrated against her because she was dressed slutty. All I can say in response to this is that I can’t stress enough how important it is for people to actually read what I write before commenting about it. I never said that anyone was justified in assaulting the man and his three year old girl. Far from it. I referred to those who did this (assuming the whole thing isn’t a fraud as some have asserted) as thugs and scumbags. The father is just a foolish parent. If he had gone out there on his own to have a fun time aggravating the leftists I’d think it was just a case of a guy being obnoxious. I support people like the protest warriors and counter protestors who want to get their message out by doing this type of thing but anyone who doesn’t expect it to be a confrontational situation where a 3 year old doesn’t belong is being foolish.

You have got to be kidding…
I keep an open mind both to the right and the left. But a father bringing his 3 year old daughter to ‘campain event’ for their democratic vice results to this. Good lord, how can anyone justify this. Maybe he chose bad judgement or was ‘using her as a shield’ but what has happened to ‘judgement’ what the hell damage did this father and daugter really do to the rally. i.e. NOTHING. Dont defend it, and dont offer any sort of ‘understanding’ about how it come to be. As a father of a 2 and 4 year old would I subject them to this to the this extent, no. But would i be absolutely appaled by the others reaction. Hell yes! In a functional democracy ‘hatred’ is not a factor. Its about the issues. More importantly were the person going for POTUS stands on the issues that we face. To see this kind of crap justified by either party makes me sick. It just adds to my feveer of what the hell happened to our electoral system. And further more what the HELL are these people doing to pursue there political agenda.
I long for the day when civil political discussions become commonplace again….

Say, about the little girl and her father. It wasn’t a rally. All of these people were at the airport. I suppose it’s asking too much of a Democrat to be civilized. That would not happen the other way around because Republicans would look at the child with pitty for being born to stupid parents.

You’re kidding, right? Do you use that same logic in rape cases? “She was wearing a mini-skirt, she deserved it.”
What does it mean to you to live in a free country if you can excuse violence with a shrug, a sigh and a “you shouldn’t have been there,”?
Brian, who cares if he takes his children to rallies to support the opposition? You’re taking the same attitude. And if the left resorts to the “she shouldn’t have been dressed like a slut,” defense, it just shows you how logically inconsistent the loonbats really are.
I seriously cannot believe people in a FREE country would defend violence against political opposition. Amazing.

SAS again!
I’m following the trackbacks, you’re following me, now I’m following you. Ah, the blogosphere.
I’m not saying that what happened to Phil and the kid is excusable; I’m wondering what exactly happened to Phil and the kid. It is, in Ciceronean terms, a Question of Fact rather than a Question of Quality.
Given what we know about him, I dunno if we can trust his account. And I wonder if people might not be reading the photograph a bit too - if you’ll pardon the term - liberally.
I’m skeptical.

The guy who is allegedly “attacking” Parlock is his son. This story is the usual Freeper hoax.
