Here’s a story about a lady who came to possess an original edition (published in 1830) of the Book of Mormon…she’s decided to rip every page out of it one by one and sell them on ebay or through her own online store. Original copies of the book sell for up to $75,000, if this woman continues to successfully sell each of the pages of her book of mormon (she’s getting at least $2,500 per page) she could make nearly 10 times that. Good for her. She’s making a lot of money and lots of people who want a part of the historic document can have it.
Thanks to Lisa for pointing me towards this interesting story.
Wow…its been a big day. Melia is walking and Corryn’s self portaits now have bodies instead of just heads with arms and legs attached.
To me the interesting thing is we have not been helping her with this. We just keep telling her that we think her pictures are pretty…not what she could do to make them better. She’s driving herself to improve and innovating on her own. Here are the before and after drawings:

I think the improvement is quite impressive.
I’m a small “l” libertarian. I believe the purpose of government is primarily to protect personal freedoms…I get my morality at church and from family and friends…I don’t need a nanny government telling me what I should or shouldn’t be doing to myself.
I think the drug war is pretty stupid and wasteful but I haven’t spent a lot of my time arguing for legalization of drugs because access to narcotics is a personal freedom I have never really missed. Arguments for ending the drug war gain a lot of ground with me though when I read stories like this.
The Salt Lake Tribune has a few details different than the earlier link but even so…60 troopers in riot gear with assault rifles, dogs and tear gas seems like massive overkill versus a bunch of druggie tweens and teens having a party in the mountains. If you have broadband internet here is a video of the bust…pretty creepy.
In Prince William County a million dollars buys this worthy entry in the Delightfully Ugly Homes compendium:

In Old Town Alexandria a million dollars buys this more modest (and much less offensive looking) property:

As part of my new goal to keep the webpage updated you’re probably going to see lots of posts on houses and housing markets…its what I do now and I think its interesting…also…I really enjoy finding the good ugly houses that can be posted here. I consider it my form of revenge on the rotten architects who plague us with these monstrosities.
I was looking through my old bookmarks this morning and came upon one of my favorite blogs which, like mine, has been a bit sparce of posts this year. I haven’t been there for a very long time and read this old post that is funny enough that I had to link to it here.
WARNING: It is possible that this is only funny to someone who lives with a 4 year old.
I paid the bill for another year of hosting and decided I might as well do something with this space I’m paying for every year.
With all of the work I’ve put into this site to keep it spam free (daily maintenence) you’d think I’d put in the minimal additional effort required to keep it up to date. Well…I’m going to try to start doing that now. This site is now officially active again. We’ll see if that lasts more than a day…or a week or two. What do you care…most of you aren’t reading this site anyway!!!
