Jack Booted Thugs in Deseret

I’m a small “l” libertarian. I believe the purpose of government is primarily to protect personal freedoms…I get my morality at church and from family and friends…I don’t need a nanny government telling me what I should or shouldn’t be doing to myself.

I think the drug war is pretty stupid and wasteful but I haven’t spent a lot of my time arguing for legalization of drugs because access to narcotics is a personal freedom I have never really missed. Arguments for ending the drug war gain a lot of ground with me though when I read stories like this.

The Salt Lake Tribune has a few details different than the earlier link but even so…60 troopers in riot gear with assault rifles, dogs and tear gas seems like massive overkill versus a bunch of druggie tweens and teens having a party in the mountains. If you have broadband internet here is a video of the bust…pretty creepy.
