The Republicrats
From The Washington Times:
House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said yesterday that Republicans have done so well in cutting spending that he declared an “ongoing victory,” and said there is simply no fat left to cut in the federal budget.
One popular TV commentator (who asked for anonymity) pointed this idiotic statement out to me and opined:
…he’s insane saying that there is no fat in the federal budget. I don’t know, why is there an HHS, Department of Education, National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, PBS, etc?
I agree with my friend’s comment. None of these departments or agencies belong in a government that is “fat free”.
Even if we were to assume these programs are necessary rather than wasteful does Delay really think there is nothing the government is spending money on right now that couldn’t be trimmed? Did he read the recent transportation bill he and his party pushed through?
I could go off on a rant here about recent examples of government waste we’ve all seen in the news or examples I saw every day as a government contractor with the State Department for five years but I won’t.
Hopefully the absurdity of this stands out without me getting all wordy on you…
