My Old Friend The TV Has Some New Shows!
We cancelled Netflix because we found that most of our TV time was spent watching shows we’ve recorded on the DVR. Lisa was so excited for the new TV shows that are now starting that she put together a spreadsheet of all of the new shows and when they air so we could record all of the new series we thought might be interesting.
The first two on our list are the Fox shows Vanished and Justice.
I’m terrible at writing reviews of TV shows and movies but I’ll give a quick synopsis of each new show Lisa and I watch and will rate each on a scale of 5. 1 = This show bites. (”CSI:Miami”) 3 = I’ll spend my precious TV time on this show but won’t hesitate to dump it if it gets even slightly lame. (”Lost”) 5 = I won’t miss an episode. (Sci Fi Network’s Battle Star Galactica)
“Vanished” is a serial about the disappearance of the wife of a U.S. Senator. The show isn’t bad and has held my interest for two episodes now. Most of the actors do well and the lead FBI guy is a really sympathetic character. I can’t imagine that this series will be able to remain good for more than one season. I hope they don’t try to drag it on longer than it can remain interesting (like “Lost”).
Rated 3/5
“Justice” is the hight cost defense attorney version of CSI. I liked this show a lot. Obiter Dicta has a great review of this show up today. I am glad that there is finally a show where I get to cheer against the cops. After years of watching “CSI” and “Law and Order” and cheering for the government it is a nice break to get a chance to cheer for the defendant.
I really like the idea that you don’t really know whether the defendant is guilty or innocent even after the jury verdict. At the very end of the show they show you what really happened. When I first heard about this aspect of this show I thought it was a cheesy idea…its not like these are true stories or anything so what is the point? The pilot episode did a good job executing the “what really happened” segment and I think it really added to the show.
Rated 5/5
A note to the local Fox affiliate:
Why did you have to switch to double screens in the middle of the pilot episode of this show? Do you really think people were that excited to see Air Force One landing? I wasn’t and it was really annoying to have to watch the last 5 minutes of the show on a much smaller screen than the rest of the show because you thought people cared that the President’s plane was landing. If the president had been speaking to Utahns gathered at the airport it would be one thing…but watching the lights on his plane while it was still 3 minutes out until it finally made it to the runway and began rolling to the gate was really lame.

The one major flaw in Vanished is the fact that it is set in Georgia and not one person has a southern accent. You would except at least scum boyfried of the daughter to have an accent.
