Bring Back The DDT!!!

We had them nearly eradicated worldwide a few decades ago thanks to widespread use of pesticides…but they’re back.
Here’s a story about how bedbugs in Salt Lake City closed down a fire station.

My wife is insisting on us buying a new tempur-pedic mattress after hearing of two or three news reports like this one. Supposedly bugs can’t live in them. There goes my summer play money!

Funny thing, the New Yorker did a fascinating article a couple years ago about DDT. Now I’m all for protecting the environment, and DDT did some awful things to ecosystems during its time, but that was really entirely due to misuse. It’s most effective when sprayed in a very localized fashion, on the inside walls of a house for example. Not sure what it would do on bedbugs, but it’s only when they started spraying entire marshes with the stuff that the real problems started!
