Hansen’s Tombstone
I like Jim Hansen and think very highly of him as a former officeholder, great citizen and former dependable hometeacher of my parent’s family when I was growing up. That said, I think anyone who lobbies local government this vigorously for a large monument to himself in the city cemetery is a little sad. Maybe I’ll feel differently about it when I’m a little closer to needing a final place to plant my bones.

This is kind of strange. Of course he isn’t dead yet and we have the James V. Hansen memorial highway running by my house too.
Like you, I was also impressed with his Government service. I would have voted for him had I lived in his district and been a resident of the state. I first and only meeting with him was during his first Congressional campaign. I attended a College Republican meeting at BYU where he spoke and came away impressed.

What do you mean Jer, I am all for this!! I want a full sized soccer stadium full of terra cotta fans all cheering for a slightly larger than life sized gold leafed statue of me scoring the winning goal in a World Cup. Complete with Pele on the ground behind me from the move I just put on him.
So all I have to do is lobby Morgan County with this line “I do not consider myself in any way special over any other citizen, but some of the positions I have held apparently are considered special by many people”
Come on people, why do we set rules at all? Why shouldn’t people with money and political experience be able to glorify themselves more than the rest of us? After all once they are gone everyone may forget what they did for us!

“may” forget that is an understatement. He may have done some good things but really are my kids going to visit his tombstone to pay their respects. this is a classic selfindulgent politian. I think he is compensating for something…
