I think he's shrewd when he has to be. But I think he's also very very very much mormon, and I smile sometimes, listening to his turn of phrase and the slight mormon-brand naivete that colors some of his comments. :)

Personally, I'm having trouble finding any candidate that isn't too shrewd for me. Hillary? Obama? Juliani? Nope.

A,

http://www.answers.com/topic/shrewd

Lets go with Definition 2.

Romney is cunning and tricky but he isn't very trustworthy. I prefer the untrustworthy characters I encounter to not be as shrewd as Romney.

Is silly parsing of my vocabulary choice really the best response you and Mick can come up with?

The ultimate winner in this presidential contest will have to be shrewd. To suggest that you would prefer a chief executive (and chief diplomat) who isn't begs the question of how you would like to have this country run.

Jasonthe,

Thanks for the comment. Mitt is probably much better off when people focus on the meme that his main problem is his religion than he would be if the honesty issue had been made front and center. Mitt hasn't yet found a policy position he wouldn't be willing to change if he thought it would help his chances at getting elected. He's a very smart but completely fake candidate.

Wow Mick...thats pretty classic coming from an unquestioning Bushophile like yourself!

Maybe slick would have been a better word than shrewd.

Nice post, I tend to agree with you here. It was a crafty move on Romney's part. The media is handing him free campaign attention.

What bothered me most was the speech being touted so often as the "JFK Speech," and then watching Romney slaughter the message JFK was trying to convey ("this is my faith, it won't effect my politics"). Romney put many words in the founding father's mouths I don't think they would've agreed with.

It's troublesome his faith has become an issue so vibrant it is distracting the nation from the simple, and still unreasoned-with fact that he is horribly dishonest and without principle.
