Montana Has A Cool Governor
Here is an interview Brian Schweitzer (Democratic governor of Montana) recently had with NPR. It is very short and sweet and forceful explanation of the foolishness that is “Real Id”. Give the interview a listen then try to imagine Gov. Huntsman being that cool. Pretty hard eh?
It would sure be nice to have a chance to support a candidate like Mr. Schweitzer in Utah. Do you think it is possible that a state like ours, so heavily influenced by cultural Mormonism, could ever elect someone known for his willingness to kick butt in the fight for our freedoms and rights instead of someone well-known because he’s really rich, really pretty, and really Mormon?

Sorry, had to comment again after a second listen.
“You give me a half a dozen high school students and a Kinko’s…”
That’s great.

He does sound really cool. I just wonder why such a cool guy’s state is failing financially…guess I need to look into that more.

Cody, cool guys aren’t always good leaders.

And Governor’s don’t have full control of the state economy. It’s not as if Huntsman could singlehandedly make the Utah economy hum. It just may be that Montana has other issues at play.

I think I am going to start answering dumb questions with “Blah Blah Blah” from now on!

Daniel’s right…cool guys aren’t always good leaders but that doesn’t seem to apply in this case.
Schweitzer has led Montana pretty well in his 2 years in office. Due in part to his leadership, Montana is now known as one of the best states in the nation to start or move a business. Not an easy feat in a state whose economy has traditionally relied completely on one basic industry (mining) for the past century. If there is any way for political leaders to pull their states out of recession I’d argue that being as hospitable as possible to business is a good start.
Dignan,
I thought that was hilarious. The NPR woman actually sounded a little miffed.
I’m sure Montana will have to back down on the whole REAL ID thing. It would sure be cool if more states would back them up. A national ID really is a bad idea.

Cool. I figured it wasn’t his fault. …I remember never paying sales tax the last few decades I’ve visited there. I’ll bet that has a part in it… thanks for the enlightenment guys..
