Bad Things Happen To Good People

I’ve been away from blogging for the past week or so because my dad had a stroke last Tuesday.  I was on my way to the Sutherland Institute for their environmental forum when I got a call that an ambulance had left my parent’s house.

My dad is doing much better this week and will likely be going home soon.  There isn’t anyone I know who is as cool and as stong as my Dad.  I’m glad he is going to be able to pull through.  It sure stinks to see something like this happen to someone you love.

If anything good can come from this event I’m hopeful that it is a greater education on the part of anyone who sees this post on what the symptoms of a stroke are and a how important it is to get medical help as quickly as possible if you or someone you know gets any of those symptoms.

  2. Thanks for linking to the symptoms of stroke. I didn’t realize that time is of the essence even after a stroke happens.

It’s good to hear that your dad will be okay.

  3. Your dad is also one of the cooliest guys I’ve ever known! Tell him I wish him the best and speediest recovery!

  4. Having had a parent end up in the hospital over an unexpected stroke, I can certainly understand how scary it is. I’m glad to hear he’s doing much better.

  5. Jeremy,
I am sorry to hear about that and I am glad things are turning up. Having lost a parent I can understand the emotions that come with that kind of a call.

We missed you at earthweek, but you had more important things to do.

  6. Thanks everyone for all of your kind words.

I didn’t want to make a really big deal about it but since I usually blog the topics that are on my mind I figured I’d throw something up about my dad’s stroke.

  7. Glad he’s going to do all right and you guys caught it in time. Thanks for the information on strokes. I read medical stuff and then always think I’ve got it…
